Aims and Scope

The section named, Surfaces and Interfaces, of the journal Current Physics publishes original research articles, letters, reviews/mini-reviews, and guest-edited thematic issues on various topics related to surfaces and interfaces.

This section is not limited to a specific aspect of the field but is instead devoted to a wide range of sub-fields in the area. Articles of interdisciplinary nature are particularly welcome. Submissions in the following areas are of special interest to the readers of this journal:

  • Analytical techniques for probing and analyzing surfaces and interfaces.
  • Interfacial engineering at the coating-substrate interface for tools, dies, and molds.
  • Interfacial engineering of multilayer thin films and optical coatings.
  • Nanostructured and functionalized surfaces and interfaces for biological and engineered applications.
  • Physical and chemical fundamentals of surfaces and interfaces.
  • Physical and chemical processing of surfaces and interfaces to achieve new functionality.
  • Surfaces and interfaces phenomena occurred at the energy storage and in production devices.
  • Techniques for surface modification of materials at submicron scale for industrial, energy, and environmental applications.
